City crews will be removing the snow from the streets in downtown Iowa City starting in the early hours of Saturday morning, and any vehicles parked in areas where overnight parking is prohibited will be towed starting at 2 a.m.
On-street parking prohibited in North Liberty starting at noon on Friday
In response to a Winter Storm Warning issued early Friday morning by the National Weather Service (NWS), the city of North Liberty has issued a snow emergency declaration that bans on-street parking. The prohibition takes effect at noon on Friday, and is scheduled to last until noon on Sunday.

Downtown parking will be free in Iowa City on Thanksgiving, the Iowa City Department of Transportation announced on Tuesday. The policy applies to both the six downtown parking ramps and all the metered street parking spots. Patients will be able to park for free in UIHC’s ramps starting on Dec. 3
Patients at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics will be able to park for free in UIHC’s four parking ramps on its main campus starting Dec. 3, UIHC announced on Monday. Currently, only the first 30 minutes of parking is free, after which patients pay $1.20 an hour, with a maximum payment of $10 a day.

The opening of The Chauncey, Iowa City’s newest high-rise building, is changing the rules at the city’s Chauncey Swan Parking Ramp, the city’s Transportation Services Department announced on Friday morning. “The City of Iowa City’s Transportation Services Department has been working to best accommodate current users and new neighbors.”
Cars parked along E College Street in Iowa City will be towed on Wednesday and Thursday
The city will start towing cars parked on the north side of E College Street between S Van Buren and Muscatine Avenue, starting at 7 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31. On Thursday, the parking ban will be reversed, applying to the south side of the same stretch of E College, starting at 7 a.m.
