Little Village Magazine and Nebula Was are happy to present “Nebula Was: Live at Gabe’s,” a free, high quality recording of their July 9 performance. Consisting of nine Mp3 tracks pulled directly from the sound board, you’ll be hard pressed to find a higher quality recording of a full Iowa City concert.
Living Ghosts, Supersonic Piss, and The Tanks blasted through great sets just before Lightning Bolt methodically set up their mountainous rig and blew the roof off the place. We have plenty of photos from the show inside, so come on in and check them out!
The FEVER is BACK! Oh yeah, you thought the H1N1 scare was over, but it’s back in the form of awesome happy-fun-times folk. That’s right, Illinois John Fever is back and at the Mill this Friday night with Seth Winger, Iowa Hagan Myers and Sacred Harp.
The Lightning Bolt show on Wednesday is more than just a simple show. It’s an opportunity to see one of the most powerful bands on the face of the planet. Two men named Brian making so much noise and sending people into a frenzy. This show goes beyond performance and into the realm of a spiritual experience. I will try to explain why.

No matter how old I get, some things will never stop being fun. Cirque Stupendo & Dr. Eli Calico’s Medicine Show is one of those things. Even as I quickly approach 30, I can still be caught in childlike awe when presented with jugglers, belly dancing, singing saws, hula hooping, and accordion players on wheels.
On Friday Night, the Mill hosted Sam Locke Ward’s release party for his new album, “Barely Regal Beagles” and the kickoff for his west coast tour with the unparalleled Simon Joyner. Joining Sam was a lineup of one-man-acts including Douglas Kramer Nye, Ed Gray and Alex Body.
From Los Angeles, California to the Little Village Live studio comes Andy Frasco, touring extraordinaire. This young musician plays hundreds of shows each year, including four in Iowa City, but not without good reason. Take a look at the following video to see Frasco’s own brand of high-energy Blues.
Collectible Boys and Andy Frasco dropped by the studio this week for some Little Village Live double feature shenanigans. We’re also happy to note that this week marked the first anniversary of Little Village Live, but you’re here for the music, so lets get to it.
Fierce rain may have prevented Dr. Lonnie Smith from headlining the final day of the 2010 Jazz Festival, but all is not lost. We still have plenty of quality jazz to get to from the day’s earlier performances. So, what are we waiting for?
