With the casual diner aesthetics, you might assume every menu item would be served to you directly from the fryer (where it arrived straight from the freezer), but Edith Lucielle’s serves a wide variety of homemade dishes, including homemade tenderloins—something I had never heard of, even as a lifelong Iowan—and homemade tiramisu.

Goldfinch Tap + Eatery set to open in Marion
Goldfinch Tap + Eatery, the second restaurant owned by 32-year-old real estate agent Josh Immerfall, is expected to open in uptown Marion in late August or early September. A Marion native and Iowa City resident, Immerfall is the bar owner of Donnelly’s Pub in downtown Iowa City.

George’s Buffet is celebrating its 80th anniversary on Saturday
It wasn’t a surprise that George’s Buffet won “Best Home Away from Home” in the inaugural Best of the CRANDIC Awards last year. Tickets for the 2019 Farm to Street Dinner are on sale
Tickets for Iowa City’s fourth annual Farm to Street Dinner will went at 7 a.m. on Monday, July 1. The six-course meal served in the middle of downtown N Linn Street, featuring dishes created by local chefs working with locally-sourced ingredients, will be held on Thursday, August 16. There are only 200 tickets available, and in previous years, the event has sold-out within 24 hours.
