Yummy brings a menu of Asian and American favorites — including Thai rolled ice cream — to downtown Iowa City

Yummy, Iowa City’s newest restaurant, opened this week, bringing a wide range of both Asian and American favorites—from Cross Bridge rice noodles to chicken wings to Thai rolled ice cream—to downtown. “We have American food, Japanese food and Chinese food all together,” Amy Huang, Yummy’s manager, told Little Village.

Daylight Donuts is reopening in a new location

Daylight Donuts has found a new home on Iowa City’s east side. Daylight is moving into the space at 1681 S 1st Ave, which used to be Sun Cafe, the owners announced on Monday in a Facebook post. The donut shop has been closed since May, when it lost its lease on the East Court Street location that had been its home, since Scott and Vicki Ward opened the shop in July 2011.

Tacos for Peace: Eat well and help animals affected by Hurricane Florence

Tacos are always good, and on Tuesday, anyone with a taste for the vegan version can do good by eating them at Trumpet Blossom Cafe. Every month, Trumpet Blossom, Iowa City’s only all-vegan restaurant, raises funds for nonprofits with Tacos for Peace. Normally it benefits local nonprofits, but on Tuesday, it will be raising money to help A Well-Fed World’s campaign to assist farm sanctuaries that are taking in animals affected by Hurricane Florence.
