The Iowa City Community School District has announced the locations where students can pick-up free lunches while schools are closed. The meal distribution program begins on Monday, March 23. “The District will provide a number of meals based on the number of children in the car ages 1-18,” according to ICCSD.

Gov. Reynolds suspends most evictions in Iowa, cancels property tax deadline
On Friday morning, Gov. Kim Reynolds signed an additional State Public Health Emergency Declaration, which will temporarily stop most evictions in Iowa. The suspension of evictions applies to all rental properties, including those in manufactured home communities or mobile home parks. The change took effect as soon as the governor signed the declaration, and is scheduled to last until 11:59 p.m. on April 16.

Almost the only new information presented at Gov. Kim Reynolds’ Thursday afternoon press conference on COVID-19 was the number of infected people in the state. “So, through this afternoon, we have 44 cases positive,” the governor said, almost halfway through the half-hourlong press conference at the State Emergency Operations Center in Johnston.

Iowa City eliminates bus fares for the duration of the COVID-19 emergency
Iowa City Transit will be waiving bus fares for the duration of COVID-19 emergency, the agency announced in a written statement on Thursday. ICT is also asking riders to enter and exit the buses by the rear door, in order to help facilitate social distancing.

UI will remain closed through the end of the semester and is canceling spring commencement
The University of Iowa will remain closed through the rest of spring semester, according to a statement published on Wednesday.
