Prairie Lights
Prairie Lights is cool. We know this. But sometimes, it’s nice to hear someone else say it, for once.

Business Insider named Iowa City’s Prairie Lights as one of its top 18 bookstores “every book lover must visit at least once,” confirming once again that we live in a town full of intelligent, sexy book nerds. Interestingly enough, San Francisco’s celebrated City Lights bookstore (from which Prairie Lights gets its name), did not make the list. Take that, fancy west coast bookstores!

From Business Insider:

This bookstore is next door to the University of Iowa’s famous Writer’s Workshop, a program with famous alums including Kurt Vonnegut.

“Owned by a pair of poets, the shop features 40,000 titles leaning heavily toward fiction, travel, children’s, and—no surprise—poetry,” writes Travel & Leisure magazine.

So, they’re a little off base with regard to the Writers’ Workshop, but hats off to Prairie Lights all the same. Now get out there and read some more books, you word gluttons!
