The Sleepwalkers w/ Twins

The Yacht Club — Thursday, July 10 at 10 p.m. ($5)

Bust out that flannel, folks, and maybe binge watch a few episodes of Daria, then head over to the Yacht Club this Thursday for a night of some of the best ’90s-inspired music this side of the Y2K scare. One of Wisconsin’s finest power-pop groups, The Sleepwalkers, will be joined by Cedar Falls’ Twins and Iowa City’s The Good Habits and Younger. The show starts at 10 p.m. and with a door price of $5, it’ll be like the last fifteen years of inflation never even happened.

The Sleepwalkers make catchy, danceable power-pop with shades of Ryan Adams-ish alt-country. The Green Bay-based four-piece have been making music for 5 years now, and their latest album, Lost My Mind in Stereo, finds them ready to break-out, with a dozen tracks of instantly memorable, Replacements-inspired indie rock. Their lead single, “My Best Was Never Good Enough,” saw its debut in USA Today in April, earning a comparison to The Psychedelic Furs.

Thursday’s show also marks Twins first ever show in Iowa City. Twins released their second album, Tomboys on Parade, through Maximum Ames Records in April and it’s already one of the best Iowa releases of the year. Fans of The Poison Control Center will fall in love with their high-energy guitar pop, as well as their cranked-to-eleven live show.
