This Friday at 7 p.m., The Mill will be hosting the Emma Goldman Clinic’s first ever community trivia night. According to Emma Goldman Clinic board member Sharaine Conner, the goal of the event is to raise money for the organization’s general fund while raising awareness about the services they offer.
The game will be split into five rounds, each with its own category of feminism and women’s rights-based questions. Participants are asked to bring teams of four to six people, but individuals without teams are also welcome.
“If you don’t have a team,” Conner said, “you can definitely come anyway and we’ll set you up with a team. You might meet some new people!”
While the focus of the night will be primarily on raising awareness about women’s reproductive rights, Conner emphasized the fact that all members of the community are welcome.
“We’re mostly just trying to let people in general, men and women, know what we do and what our services are,” Conner said. “People forget that we have some male things that we do at the clinic. Despite the fact that this is definitely going to be a women-based trivia night, we want to reach out to the men in the community so that they know that they can access some of our services as well.”
Conner also said participants are welcome to bring their children. The cost to participate will be $10 per person. For more information about Friday’s trivia night, the Emma Goldman Clinic can be reached at (319) 337-2112.
