November 2013 brew of the month: Thomas Beck Black I.P.A.
Though October is my favorite month, I love November as well. The temperatures fall, the shadows lengthen and the sun sets earlier. Black I.P.A.s are darker […]

Back when Beard Beer was new on the scene, Huffington Post gave this detailed account of this strange brew’s origins: The […]

I have often sought Hotek’s advice for my Little Village recommendations, but this time I was shopping for myself. “Nah, just for […]

Rampant IPA is our May brew of the month
With supplies of spring’s seasonal brews dwindling, I’ve decided to suggest a spring-ish beer that is not only brewed year-round, but also offers a level of hop bitterness that exceeds anything else I have recommended: Rampant IPA, brewed by New Belgium Brewing.
The Hops: Paulaner Brewery’s Salvator
Like a good Catholic and Bavarian, I imagine the Pope will relax with a brew or two after Saint Patrick’s Day Mass—and I guarantee he will not be drinking Guinness. Instead, he will probably kick back a couple bottles of the beer of the month: Paulaner Salvator. Sometime around the seventeenth century, it was decided […]
