The Kalona Brewing Company is hosting a release party for its “monster tasting, coffee/chocolate stout,” Steroid Stout, at the NewBo City Market in Cedar Rapids, 12-3 p.m. on Saturday, March 15.

“It’s not nuanced coffee. It’s coffee in your face,” said Lew Brewer, the co-owner and head brewer at Kalona. “It’s like drinking a 7.5 percent [ABV] cup of coffee.”

Attendees can look forward to free 1 oz samples of the new brew, with pints available for $5. The release party will move to the brewery (405 B Avenue, Kalona) at 5 p.m., where pints of Steroid Stout will be served for $3.50.
