Trump’s coup rolls on with the help of Iowa Republicans. Senators Grassley and Ernst, along with Representative Miller-Meeks, seemed almost giddy when discussing their “Yes” votes on the “Big Bad Bill.” They seem to forget their oath to protect the Constitution of the United States and not one man. The legislators are supposed to be a check on the excesses of the executive branch. It is their job to make things a little easier for Iowans to get by, not to extend tax cuts for the super rich.
This bill contains many poison pills, including cutting nearly a trillion dollars from Medicaid and restricting powers of the judicial branch to hold Trump in check. Republicans even used a dirty trick to lower the number of votes needed to pass the bill by assuming the tax cuts had already been extended.
The country is going in the wrong direction — domestically and in foreign policy.
Billionaires are running the show to their advantage and running up huge deficits. Trump has violated federal law and the Constitution. Grassley, Ernst, and Miller-Meeks are giving the “thumbs-up” sign. We need to vote them out!
