We are proudly supporting J.P. Claussen’s candidacy for the ICCSD School Board.

J.P.’s involvement in the school district, as both a parent and an educator, has been extensive and multifaceted. The importance of having the voice of a seasoned educator on the board cannot be overstated. In addition, as former president and chief negotiator for the ICEA [Iowa City Education Association], J.P. has a broad knowledge of educational policy at the national, state and local levels, and will bring a wealth of leadership experience to the board.

We find J.P. to be fair minded and accessible, with an inherent ability to diplomatically navigate complex situations. He will facilitate an environment of transparency and accountability and is deeply committed to issues affecting district students and staff.

J.P. is also an active and engaged listener and, having served as an advocate for underserved and vulnerable populations, will be an inclusive voice for the many diverse populations within the ICCSD. He is an excellent communicator and well respected in the community, as evidenced by his long list of endorsements which includes district families, teachers and administrators, as well as many community leaders.

We wholeheartedly concur with the remark recently shared with us by one of J.P.’s former students, in regard to this school board election: “J.P. is our man!”

We encourage you to learn more about J.P. Claussen and join us in voting to elect him to the ICCSD School Board.
