Mandi Remington is a justice fighter who walks the walk. Join me in voting for Mandi for Johnson County Supervisor in the June 4 Democratic Primary.
From Remington’s own experience as a single mother raising three children on one salary, a long-time renter, a past aid recipient, a daycare provider and a domestic violence survivor, Mandi knows the less wealthy side of the county. She uses that understanding through CCAN (Corridor Community Action Network) to voluntarily assist over 100 area organizations do their work of fighting poverty and hunger, by providing clothing, shelter and other care. That compassion will create more just policies.
As a past County Supervisor, I know that success in the job comes from showing up and doing something with your position. I have seen other Supervisors not attend Board meetings or liaison assignments and not accomplish much. Mandi shows up to multiple boards and commissions in the county and UI and her accomplishments increase because her understanding grows. Remington’s calm, reasoned, thoughtful, researched approach to issues and policy will help the Board function better.
Mandi has environmental credibility as an Iowa City Climate Ambassador who is helping others write climate action plans. With Johnson County as one of MidAmerican Energy’s biggest consumers, she will continue to advocate for them to close their five Iowa coal plants and give us the 24/7/100 percent carbon-free energy needed to slow climate change, improve our health and attract employers.
