As someone raised in Iowa City, a University of Iowa graduate, a local small business owner and a proud board member of CommUnity Crisis Services, I care deeply about this community and the people who call it home.
There is a lot happening in our community and our country, and it can feel overwhelming. I find myself asking how I can be helpful — how I can contribute in a way that matters. It always brings me back to our neighbors.
What can we do for someone right here in our community, today?
We can help a family put food on the table tonight. We can help someone experiencing a mental health crisis find support. We can help a neighbor stay housed or make sure everyone has someone to talk to.
A donation to CommUnity or another local organization may feel small. But when we each give what we can, it makes the giving large, impactful, meaningful and effective. Together we can.
I’m proud of this community and grateful to be part of it. Caring for our neighbors is one significant way we ensure it’s a place we all can love and we all can flourish. Thank you for considering joining me in contributing however you can.
