Voting Begins Aug. 1 for Best of the CRANDIC

Who’s the best neighbor in the CRANDIC? Where’s the best place to grab a drink after a show?

Little Village readers will declare winners for the inaugural Best of the CRANDIC awards across 100 categories spanning food and drink, recreation, services, arts and entertainment and community.

Voting runs Aug. 1 – Sept. 30, 2018. The nomination format will be short answer, followed by an option to explain your choice.

So, will the winners be based on the number of votes received, or the quality of the explanation?

The answer is… Yes. The vote count will determine the winners, but we’ll publish all the best answers that we can in the December 2018 issue of Little Village — the 2019 Reader-selected Locals’ Guide to the CRANDIC.

Save the date: An awards party is slated for Thursday, Dec. 6 at the new Graduate Hotel in Iowa City.

What’s the CRANDIC?

It’s Cedar Rapids and Iowa City. CR AND IC. But you can nominate any person or business from anywhere in the region. There will be a competitive medals count, though, between the north and south CRANDIC. If the CR area takes home more medals than the IC area, we’ll move the party up there next year. (If you’re from somewhere in between, we might ask you who you rep for.)

Have fun! More updates and details to come.
