Show Photos: Centaur Noir, Skye Carrasco, Mondo Drag 6/22 & Natalie Eickmeyer, Paleo, Brooks Strause & the Gory Details 6/23

Who doesn’t love a couple good midweek shows at the Mill? It’s the perfect excuse to go out  for a few beers and great live music. The Mill’s free Tuesday Night Social Club featured Centaur Noir, Skye Carrasco, as well as Mondo Drag, who happened to be starting their 4-month tour of the midwest and east coast. The show was  an excellent blend of Centaur Noir’s feverish guitar over electronic beats, Skye Carrasco’s masterful violin and haunting voice, and the heavier sounds of Mondo Drag. which embody the smooth, dirty garage rock sound of the 60s and 70s.

Wednesday’s lineup included Natalie Eickmeyer, Paleo, and Brooks Strause & the Gory Details. The audience listened in quiet awe at Natalie’s ethereal vocals, including her impressive rendition of Brooks Strause’s song The Fall. Singer-songwriter Paleo got a very similar response with songs that called up the best characteristics of classic folk, mixed with his impressive lyrical abilities. And Brooks and the Gory Details came out with a powerful mix of   raw, emotional storytelling and cohesive instrumentation that only the greatest musicians achieve.  Please enjoy the photos I captured during these amazing sets.
