As we head into September and towards the end of summer, let’s take a peek at another classic, refreshing drink that is easy to make, includes an ingredient that grows in your yard (or flower pot) and that may have been invented by a pirate. Yes, that’s right — this week, we’re looking at the mojito!
Chicken Little Reviews: Cobble Hill
Cedar Rapids’ restaurant history is rather infamous. Prohibition began there five years before the rest of America. On the outskirts of town, supper clubs like the Lighthouse Inn and Ced-Rel flirted with the likes of Al Capone and John Dillinger. Cobble Hill came to fruition in 2013, when Carrie and Andy Schumacher took over the […]

Beer Review: Left Hand Brewing Company’s Milk Stout Nitro
Nitrogen beers such as Guinness are served on draft using a pressurized mix of nitrogen and carbon dioxide, that results in a beer with a velvety smooth, creamy mouthfeel and little carbonation. Because nitrogen has a low solubility in liquid (meaning it cannot be dissolved), beers poured “on nitro” feature a distinctive cascade of bubbles that is caused by rising nitrogen.

A layover at Joe’s Place in downtown Iowa City has also been added. At each stop, riders will be able to enjoy a selection of beers brewed by co-sponsor Boulevard Brewing Company.
Sága IPA is LV’s August 2014 brew of the month
Brewed by the Summit Brewing Company of St. Paul, Minn., Sága IPA is named after the Norse goddess of poetry and drinking companion of Odin. Sága IPA is an excellent West Coast-style IPA. I’m not old enough to remember when Happy Days was actually on television, but I’ve watched enough television and read enough stuff on the internet to know that after the episode where The Fonz jumped over the shark, the show is generally thought to have, well, sucked. And with their new Sugar Crush vodka, UV […]
