An interview with Peter Buffett
Peter Buffett is an Emmy Award-winning composer, philanthropist and New York Times best-selling author. He also happens to be the son of Warren Buffett, famed philanthropist and one of the most successful investors of the 20th century. Despite his unique upbringing, Buffett often hears the same platitude time and time again. “For Warren Buffett’s son, […]
EPX Animation & Gaming Con to feature industry pros
The video game industry is a diverse network of creative, design-oriented professionals whose names resonate with millions of video game fans across the world. For every J.J. Abrams, there is a Phil Fish. For every Guillermo Del Toro, there is a Jonathan Blow. Their keynotes draw thousands, and their philosophies on interactive design and player agency are incredibly complex for a hobby that’s often derided as a brainless exercise in destruction.

Iowa City has been coping with what is, evidently, some sort of freakish week-long thunderstorm complete with flash floods, power outages and sogginess abound. With that said, what follows are some Earth Month highlights for April 18-30, wherein we will grit our teeth, smile politely and thank the Earth for being such a swell place (most of the time).

Throughout the last three decades, Ginn has played a vital role in shaping the West Coast punk scene. Perhaps most commonly recognized as the front man for the iconic hardcore punk group Black Flag, Ginn is also the founder and proprietor of Solid State Transmitters, an independent record label–created in 1978–that would go on to feature such influential bands as Hüsker Dü, The Minutement and Meat Puppets.
The electric car gets its revenge
With 30 new models introduced since 2010, The electric car has enjoyed quite a resurgence in recent years. Though this infrastructure-intensive vehicle might seem a bit more illusive to those of us in the Midwest, charging station initiatives continue to creep inward from either coast and home-charging solutions are becoming increasingly viable. As of January, Iowa hosts 33 public charging stations, though only four electric vehicles are registered to Johnson County.
