Organizers for the 80/35 Music Festival in downtown Des Moines announced the first lineup details this morning, and from what we’ve seen thus far, those of us in Iowa City are going to have an enticing excuse to get away for a couple of days this summer.

Organized by the nonprofit Des Moines Music Coalition, 80/35 boasts more than 40 acts on three stages in both paid and free areas–and also Wu-Tang. Did I mention Wu-Tang? You should probably go and see Wu-Tang.

Legendary Cedar Falls 3-piece House of Large Sizes (HOLS) will also visit the festival, making their second 2013 appearance in Des Moines–the first shows the band has played since 2009. The first of the two HOLS shows will be this weekend at the DMMC’s April 13 event, Gross Domestic Product.

80/35 takes place on July 5-6 in Western Gateway Park.

Check out the preliminary announcement list below and stay tuned for updates.
