Cedar Falls indie-rock group John June Year is scheduled to play the Yacht Club today at 10:00 p.m.

Since forming just over a year ago, they’ve released an EP titled Translations, and a pair of singles titled Lounge Lizard, and Dangerous Range (singles are still a thing!).

Though they’ve put in a lot of studio time for being such a young band, they say their focus has been primarily on live performance. The band has worked to develop their stage presence by playing shows throughout the state with acts like the Envy Corps, Bright Giant and Iowa City’s own Olympics.

Andrew Thoreen, half of the Cedar Falls duo Har-di-Har and founder of Slimbeast Productions, describes John June Year as being a band that creates, “Unforgettable melodies, thick synth and guitar textures, and an emphasis on honest, spacious songwriting that can only be found in the Midwest.”

Iowa-based rockers Holy White Hounds are set to open. The group is currently working with producer Brandon Darner of The Envy Corps to put out a full-length record, though an official release date is still tentative. Check them out below:

Admission for this show is $5.
