Codfish Hallow — Friday, Oct. 31 at 8 p.m. ($20)

If you have plans for Halloween — cancel them. This Friday night offers plenty to do, but there’s no way that any of those will compare to what’s happening at Codfish Hollow Barn in Maquoketa. The Pizza Underground, a buzz-band meets internet meme, will be co-headlining an incredible celebration of wacky rock with legendary party-rocker Har Mar Superstar and Candy Boys.

The Pizza Underground is a five-piece from Brooklyn fronted by former child actor Macaulay Culkin. The band rewrites Velvet Underground classics so that they’re about pizza — “All Pizza Parties” (“All Tomorrow’s Parties”), “Pizza Gal” (“Femme Fatale”) and “Take a Bite of the Wild Slice” (“Walk on the Wild Side”) are just a few examples. If ridiculousness were it’s own metric for excellence, the Pizza Underground would be one of the best bands on the planet.

This is a rock n’ roll spectacle at it’s best, and as such, Har Mar Superstar is the perfect complement for this bill.

Named after the Har Mar mall in St. Paul, Minnesota, this project of Sean Tillman started in 2001 and has only gained steam since then. Tillman plays a style of tongue-in-cheek hip-hop that seems to become significantly less tongue-in-cheek when one sees his live show, where he dances, sweats and screams in his underwear, with a level of showmanship that has attracted the attention of Julian Casablancas (who released his latest record, Bye Bye 17) and members of Spoon (who helped record the album).

Could there possibly be a better way to spend your Halloween?

Let this be the deciding factor: Pizza will be provided.
