Big K.R.I.T.

Blue Moose Tap House — Saturday, Oct 18 at 7 p.m.

Big K.R.I.T. (King Remembered In Time) lays down his smooth southern hip hop tonight at the Blue Moose Tap House. K.R.I.T., a Mississippi native, has skyrocketed to rap fame in the last few years, building on the success of his critically acclaimed 2011 release Return of 4Eva, consistently solid mixtape releases and collaborations with rappers like Curren$y and Chamillionaire.

K.R.I.T is known for his sharp lyricism, a kind that delivers raw lines that spit truth even in their silences: “I roll the dice one time for my folks that died off / Rep the side they believe in but their side lost / Let me toss a seven for the ones won’t see tomorrow / Cash those chips in for some time, we don’t need to ball / Gunshots ran out, everybody hang out / Yellow tape party, all over we sang out.”

Not every K.R.I.T. track is a masterpiece, but his talent as a rapper is undeniable, and perhaps even more importantly, he is always looking to innovate (check out the video above where he raps over a remix of “Whilheim Scream” by indie electronic artist James Blake). K.R.I.T. is gearing up to release a new album next month, Cadillactica, so his show at the Blue Moose should be a good chance to get a taste of which direction the King is looking to take his music in next.
