It’s summer in Iowa City! The boundary between weekday and weekend are now blurred, so why not get your live music fix tonight by checking out Brazil’s Canja Rave at Gabe’s?
Similar to The Strokes, Canja Rave carry a nice vintage tone–muddy distortion included–paired with unique vocals that offer a little taste of their Brazilian background. The group recently kicked off an international tour across three continents, so lets show them why Iowa City is one of the premiere live music cities in the Midwest.
Joining the minimalist rock band from Porto Alegre are Jaiguru, hailing from Rock Island, Illinois. The mix of foreign rock with the pseudo-local should make for an event well worth checking out, so for those looking for a proper way to spend their evening, look no further.
Still on the fence? Check out the following clip of Canja Rave’s song “Chega!” from thier performance on the Brazilian television show Papo Clip. The doors open at 9:30 p.m. with an entry fee of $4.
