Visitors to Iowa City’s Northside Marketplace will have a new place to dine as Northside Bistro opens its doors today at 3 p.m. at 203 N. Linn St.
Behind the new restaurant is Andy Diep, who also owns Konomi in Coralville’s Iowa River Landing. The concept for the restaurant’s menu is very open ended, drawing influences from a variety of global cuisines and featuring local and organic ingredients, according to Diep.
Diep has brought on head chef Damien Williams, who cooked for six years in Seattle, to run the kitchen. Their opening day menu features items such as braised and caramelized pork belly, seafood risotto with mussels, diver scallops, dashi and watercress and crispy chicken with adobo sauce.
In addition to a new menu, expect to see an entirely new interior as the space, which was formerly the Haunted Bookshop, has undergone extensive remodeling and now features reclaimed barn wood and a mix of rustic and industrial aesthetic elements.
