A new documentary about one of Jackson Pollock’s most famous paintings, Mural, will debut this Friday at FilmScene at 5:30 p.m. Jackson Pollock’s Mural: the story of a Modern Masterpiece is a 30-minute film — created by local artists and filmmakers — about the iconic painting and its history at the University of Iowa.
The documentary delves into recovery efforts after the 2008 flood forced the evacuation of Mural and other high-profile works of art. Since the flood, the painting has embarked upon an extensive tour, appearing at renowned exhibits both domestic and abroad.
Award-winning documentarian Kevin Kelley, who works at the University of Iowa Office of Strategic Communication, produced and directed the film. The screening, presented by the UI Museum of Art and FilmScene, is free and open to the public.
