“This is just easy listening for the jaded class.” Truer words have likely never been spoken during a Wolf Eyes set, which was simultaneously stimulating and energy depleting, like a body confusingly processing uppers and downers at the same time.

However, being able to catch both Taser Island and Wolf Eyes was a welcomed and necessary change of pace following Earth. Maybe I’m alone, but I found them to be underwhelming apart from Adrienne Davies’ drumming putting me in a trance-like state. Or maybe I am just incredibly lazy because I probably would have loved the experience if it included watching from a plush recliner positioned in the middle of Gabes’ floor.

But enough about the past, this is my plan for the near future.

6 p.m.

I am starting Mission Creek at the same place I started day two: Prairie Lights. I didn’t make it to much of Mission Creek’s literary lineup in 2013, so this year I plan on righting that wrong. Louisville’s Sarabande Books will be celebrating its 20th anniversary with readings from Angela Pelster (Limber) and Kyle Minor (Praying Drunk). There will be a reception to follow, which should be a total given for everyone considering the fact that there will be free booze.

8 p.m.

Once I am good and liquored up, I will be heading to Trumpet Blossom for the Slow Collision Press and Little Village readings. Slow Collision will feature Todd Jackson reading from his novel Detroit Trip, Brent Johnson from Genesoid and Sean Genell from All the Help You Need. Little Village Hot Tin Roof honorees Mackenzie Bean and Lisa Roberts will also be participating. Although, this is a really tough choice because I love Oneohtrix Point Never (Daniel Lopatin), who will be performing at The Englert before Philip Glass. And, you know, there is PHILIP GLASS.

11 p.m.

After two nights at Gabes, I want to finish finish my Wednesday at The Mill for S. Carey of Bon Iver (Wisconsin represent!). If you know me, you know indie folk isn’t normally my style, but I have a soft spot for this dude and his sounds. In fact, his most recent album, Range of Light, came out on April 1 and I’ve definitely been giving it some heavy rotation.

But, and this is a big BUT, I’ve heard from at least a half a dozen people over the last two days that I really should check out Dessa (a rapper/singer/spoken word artist from the Twin Cities) performing at Gabe’s at the same time. I may need a time-turner to make this night work.
