Lexicon Collective Presents: Beyond the Hemline

Just as painters show their work in a gallery, clothing designers also need an interactive venue for presenting their work. What better way to celebrate the creative resourcefulness of Iowa’s stitching community than with a runway show?

April 23, 8:00 p.m. | $8 | Located at the White Lightning Wherehouse

Beyond the Hemline aims to foster the creative talents of all individuals who have an interest in wearable textiles. The show will include creations by numerous Iowa City designers including Haus of Dür, Artifacts, Scrap Mental, Revival, White Rabit, the Vitae Design Collective, Misty Blank and more.

A silent auction is also in store, featuring great donations from our local sponsors, including Beadology, Blaze Color Salon, The Broken Spoke, Home Ec. and Ragstock.

As if you needed any more incentive to pay the Wherehouse a visit this Saturday, a host of musical performances are also on the docket. The Boxknifes, So Much Fun, Lady Espina and Techno Lincoln and the Technicolor Union will be hitting the stage. Best of all, Les Dames du Burlesque will also be making an appearance.

That’s a lot of entertainment, no? Did we mention the event is in support of Little Village?

Lexicon Collective believes strongly in the importance of thinking “green,” and invites you to join them on a pre-show critical mass bike ride beginning at 7:00 p.m. in downtown Iowa City. Bicyclists will fill the streets, making their way over to the Wherehouse in time for the show later in the evening.
