Mandi Remington, candidate for Johnson County Supervisor in the June 4 Democratic Primary election, brings experience that is seldom represented in elected office — single parent of three children, renter, domestic violence survivor, moderate salary, daycare provider and client — that allow her to understand those who struggle in our affluent county.
Remington’s experience is the foundation for barrier-breaking policy ideas, hope and citizen empowerment that will broaden the perspective of the Board and create better proposals to improve Johnson County.
When other candidates tell us what they can’t do, Mandi is quick to say what we can do by revealing creative solutions with a vision beyond the status quo on affordable housing, LGBTQ+ oppression, health care, hunger, immigration, policing and other concerns, because she stands beside citizens immediately involved in those issues. Remington tells us we are not powerless, but rather the county can stand up in court to “Killer Kim” Reynolds’ destructive civil rights and social policies; the county can use its leverage to stand up to utility companies and demand the 24/7/100 percent renewable energy county residents want; we can make better policing and prosecution decisions while keeping citizens safe.
