SUNDAY

The Lonelyhearts w readings by Andre Perry and Miguel Soria | The Red Avocado | 8 pm | FREE

Sorry for the double Red Avocado recommendation, but you have to give props to a restaurant that opens their doors for community events despite the fact that they are actually closed for improvements. They are doing just that for the Lonelyhearts, a synth + acoustic guitar duo that combine the best qualities of many genres to make one, beautiful, swirling, sad, sad sound. Just kidding, they aren’t so sad. Well, sorta sad, but so pretty!

The Lonelyhearts played The Red Avocado this winter and the small space, with no need for vocal or guitar amplification, was an ideal setting. Those of us that were lucky enough to attend are looking forward to trying it again, this time with the patio doors open, the smells of the flowers coming in on the breeze… We will also be treated to readings of new works by Andre Perry and Miguel Soria. Plan on a very special Sunday evening at the ‘Avocado!

MONDAY

New Found Glory | Blue Moose Tap House | 6 pm | $16.50-$19 (all ages)

Founded in 1997, New Found Glory is one of the biggest bands from the pop punk craze that (along with Eminem and the Korn nu-metal thing) totally ruled the airwaves for most of the late 90s and early aughts. There are many all ages power pop/punk shows these days at the Blue Moose, but this one will actually manage to attract fans of all ages. If you remember New Found Glory, go check em out this Monday and see if they’ve still got it.

Have a great weekend!
