Scott Lucas and the Married Men | The Blue Moose Tap House | 9:00 p.m. | $10
Scott Lucas, best known as one of the members of Chicago’s Rock’s rock duo Local H, comes to the Blue Moose Tap House this Thursday. Currently touring in support of their debut album George Lassos the Moon, Scott Lucas and the Married Men add a bit of brass and violin to the mix, offering a nice change of pace from Lucas’s Local H project.
Boom Box | Gabe’s | 9:00 p.m. | $13
Finally, it’s worth mentioning that Boombox will be paying a visit to Gabe’s tonight, along with David Bess of Public Property. If Scott Lucas doesn’t suit you, Boombox are sure to put on an incredibly ‘funky’ show.
FRIDAY
Mike Droho & the Compass Rose with Ash St. John and Decoy | Gabe’s | 9:30 p.m. | $7
Dropping by Gabe’s on Friday are three great bands for a price too cheap not to mention. Ash St. John will open up along with fellow Iowans Decoy before Mike Droho & the Compass Rose take the stage. Can you handle all of this acoustic rock?
SATURDAY
Funtime Talk Show, Paul Cary, Liberty Leg | The Blue Moose Tap House | 9:00 p.m. | $6
Jarret Mitchell’s night club talk show will visit The Blue Moose on Saturday. Mitchell is a San Francisco-based comedian–though a native of Keokuk, Iowa–and although we’re not entirely sure what to expect, it sounds like a fun way to break up some live music. Regardless, any reason to see Iowa City’s Liberty Leg is a good reason.
