Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jack Hatch, along with his running mate, Cedar Rapids Councilwoman Monica Vernon, will be holding a fundraiser at Iowa City’s Sanctuary Pub, located at 405 S. Gilbert, from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday night.

State Senators Joe Bolkcom and Robert Dvorsky are listed as hosts of the event.

Hatch, a state senator from Iowa’s 33rd district, seeks to unseat Iowa Governor Terry Branstad in the upcoming Iowa gubernatorial election, which is set to take place on November 4. Hatch has criticized Branstad for his job creation efforts in Iowa, alleging that the governor is more interested in helping out his friends than Iowans. Branstad argues that his administration has created more than 130,000 jobs since re-taking office in 2011.

Tuesday’s reception at Sanctuary will be open to the general public.
