Fashion Forward: Vero Rose Smith’s patchwork wardrobe

“The rose has become a symbol that I try to wear absolutely every single day, to think about all the women who came before me.”

As curator of special projects at the University of Iowa Stanley Museum of Art, Vero Rose Smith thinks of her closet as a living sketchbook. She appreciates sustainable secondhand finds, and repurposes materials to help continue the life of her clothing.

Little Village dropped by the Stanley Museum of Art and Smith’s studio at Public Space One to learn more about her style and that incredible patch-covered Tommy Hilfiger jacket.
