Early voting for the Iowa City Council special election has begun

In-person early voting for the special election to fill the vacant at-large seat on the Iowa City Council began on Wednesday. Voters wanting to cast an absentee ballot can do so at the Johnson County Auditor’s Office — 913 S. Dubuque Street in Iowa City — Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The last day for in-person early voting will be Monday, Oct. 1.

There will also be two satellite voting locations available to early voters:

Wednesday, September 26, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the fountain lobby of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics

Thursday, September 27, 10-4, at the Iowa City Public Library

There are still a few days left to request a mail-in absentee ballot. Requests must be received by the Auditor’s Office by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21. The election will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 2.
