The cost of a bus trip won’t keep anyone in Des Moines from voting on Tuesday.
“All DART Local, Express, On Demand, and On Call services are FREE on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022 to help support our community to get out and vote,” the Des Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) said in a statement. “Polls in Polk County will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., but DART is free to ride all day.”
DART recommends riders use its MyDART Trip Planner to determine the best bus route to their polling place. To get the address of the polling place, which is needed to use the trip planner, use the look-up tool on the Iowa Secretary of State’s site.
Bus riders who use Paratransit can schedule a ride to the polls, but must do so 24 hours in advance.
“We will do our best to serve as many people as possible to their designated polling location on Election Day, but Paratransit service may be limited by high demand and operates on a first come, first serve basis,” DART said. “To ensure DART can help you get out your vote you should contact us as soon as possible. Call 515-283-8136 to schedule your Paratransit trip to vote.”
