In Iowa City, there are a few traditions we cling to: Our weekends start on Thursdays, our holiday gifts are handmade, our bartenders have advanced degrees, and every August, in sweltering heat as the confused parents of undergrads look on … we move.

But the annual rites of sweltering summer house-swaps begin several months before, when our landlords — some of them famously helpful, others of them notoriously not so — ask us to give them the word: Will we stay or will we go?

This February, Little Village will participate in this tradition with a special issue devoted to decisions well-made, rent-check regrets, deposits that got lost on their way back, and entertaining oddities meant to help you decide whether you will re-sign or simply resign your lease this fall.

Got a story? Of course you do! Submit your Landlord Stories to Little Village by Dec. 31 for a chance to appear in this special issue this February.

LV is accepting work in any genre, up to 2,000 words, and will pay $50 for all printed submissions, regardless of length. Send it today to Editor@littlevillagemag.com (Multimedia submissions/proposals are also accepted).

Can your landlord handle the truth? We can. Send it in today!
