CAB Presents: Comedians from Bob’s Burgers
Iowa Memorial Union Main Lounge — Thursday, Oct. 12 at 10 p.m.

The University of Iowa Campus Activities Board (CAB) is hosting a stand-up comedy show on Oct. 12 featuring three of the comedians behind your favorite Bob’s Burgers characters. The event is open to the public; tickets cost $10.
H. Jon Benjamin, the voice of Bob Belcher himself, will take the stage with co-stars Eugene Mirman (son Gene Belcher) and Dan Mintz (daughter Tina Belcher). A Q&A session will follow their stand-up routine.
FOX’s Bob’s Burgers follows the misadventures of the Bob and Linda Belcher, who own and more or less operate the hamburger joint Bob’s Burgers with their three children. The series was created by Loren Bouchard as a cross between a family and workplace sitcom. Its eighth season is scheduled to premiere on Oct. 1 on the FOX network, hot off a Primetime Emmy win for Outstanding Animated Program — an award they also clinched in 2014.
Bob’s Burger‘s main voice cast includes Benjamin, Mirman and Mintz as well as John Roberts as Bob’s wife Linda and Kristen Schaal as the bunny-ears-sporting youngest sister Louise.
Benjamin is a voice-acting veteran, having also lent his talents to Sterling Archer on FX’s Archer, Ben on Comedy Central’s Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist and two characters on Adult Swim’s Home Movies. He’s also made dozens of vocal and in-person guest appearances in notable TV programs and commercials.
Mirman is a Russian-born comedian whose stand-up work is often compared to David Cross and Patton Oswalt. He appeared in HBO’s Flight of the Conchords and has performed on a number of talk shows from Late Night with Conan O’Brien to The Colbert Report to Last Week Tonight.
With Roberts, Mintz is one of two men in the main cast to voice a woman. His deadpan delivery of teenage Tina’s often impassioned declarations is one of Bob’s Burgers signature elements. Mintz is best known as a TV writer, having worked on Comedy Central’s Last Call with Carson Daly, The Andy Milonakis Show, Nathan For You and HBO’s Veep.
Bob’s Burgers episodes are syndicated on Adult Swim, TBS and 20th Century Fox local affiliate stations, and are also streaming on Hulu. Throughout its run, the series has been crossed over with other FOX animated shows Archer and The Simpsons.
CAB Presents: Comedians from Bob’s Burgers will begin at 10 p.m. (doors open at 9:15 p.m.) on Oct. 12 with general admission seating. Tickets cost $10 for both UI students and the public and may be purchased at the Iowa Memorial Union Welcome Center.
