Blair Christian, a member of MTV’s revived Wild ’N Out comedy series, headlines a showcase of comedy and hip hop at Gabe’s this Saturday at 9 p.m.

Though she’s worked successfully in the entertainment industry for years as a dancer and choreographer, Christian began performing stand-up comedy in 2012. Christian has done well for herself in the mean time, most recently being cast in the sixth season of Wild ‘N Out, where she has had a chance to regularly show off her improv and comedy chops.

In addition to Christian, the showcase will feature a variety of comedy and hip-hop performers. The performance is hosted by Iowa City comedian Darius Bowie and will finish with a DJ set by Big Boy Mike.

Christian’s wide-ranging entertainment background is part of why she was sought out by UnSpokenWords ENT, the company who has organized Saturday’s show.

“We strive to bring together different crowds and appeal to more people by mixing multiple forms of entertainment. That’s why we booked Blair,” said Danyell Buford, who runs the Cedar Rapids-based UnSpokenWords ENT along with her husband, Lashaun Buford. “Her background of comedy, improv and dance relates to all different ages and backgrounds.”
