The Heartland Bombshells take it off in their debut performance September 30 at the Blue Moose. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door. The group is led by Auralie Wilde, an international burlesque star who got her start in Iowa City performing with Les Dames du Burlesque.

“The Bombshells are a body-positive and sex-positive group, who aim to entertain and build a community that centers around self-acceptance and love,” Wilde said.

The show at Blue Moose will include solo and group acts with appearances by the I.C. Kings.

Wilde’s variety show, The Honeymoon Tour, will also premiere in Iowa City on October 5. The Honeymoon Tour features Wilde and her fiancé, who will be performing at Gabe’s Iowa City, the bar where the couple first met. Tickets are $5. The show will include burlesque as well as sing alongs, games and comedy. The Heartland Bombshells will also perform at the event.

Wilde said she is excited to bring a feminist perspective on burlesque to a college town.

“In a society that is quick to objectify women while simultaneously punishing them for enjoying sex, I believe it’s very important for both women and men, particularly college age, to see women take ownership of their bodies.”
