Taste of Iowa City returns for its 16th year on Wednesday. This year’s event will feature food from 48 downtown and Northside eateries, as well as live music.
Taste of Iowa City “offers the perfect opportunity for new students and food lovers to experience the diverse culinary offerings from our local downtown restaurants and chefs” the Iowa City Downtown District, which organizes the annual event, said in a news release. There will be a wide variety of items on offer, including vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options.
Eaters assembling a do-it-yourself smorgasbord crawl across the Ped Mall will pay for the food with tickets, sold at six ticket booths around the event. Tickets can also be purchased online in advance. Online tickets will be available for pickup at the Iowa City Downtown District’s office on the Ped Mall (103 E College St, Suite 200). Tickets cost $1 each and are sold in blocks of five. Most of the food at Taste of Iowa City will cost between three and five tickets.

The four-hour event kicks off at 4 p.m. This year’s Taste of Iowa City will feature a free performance by iconic Iowa City musician Dave Zollo. The music starts at 5 p.m. at the Weatherdance Stage on the Ped Mall and runs until 7 p.m.
“Proceeds from the event will be donated to the volunteer groups helping with the event,” the Iowa City Downtown District said.
