Winterland headlines Halloween performance at Yacht Club

Winterland

Iowa City Yacht Club — Saturday, Oct. 31 at 10 p.m.

There’s something fitting about Winterland performing at Yacht Club for Halloween. For those not familiar Winterland is a Grateful Dead tribute band, whose lead singer bears a striking resemblance to Jerry Garcia himself.

Winterland specializes in a specific range of Grateful Dead music as well. That funky, bluesy, super-psychedelic music GD famously produced during the late 1960’s through the late 1970’s. The experimental years, if you will.

Halloween is a night of costumes and spookiness and such, where we allow our imaginations to take over, if only for a night. And the music — Winterland’s especially — helps us get there.
