The Trumpet Blossom Café keeps adding to the reasons why they are one of Iowa City’s newest treasures. Vegans and omnivores alike are already buzzing about the delicious creations coming from the kitchen and bar.
The added bonus is they cater to your sense of sound, as well as taste, with live performances. Yesterday I caught wind of a last-minute (or maybe just a well-kept secret) performance by William Elliott Whitmore.
The Trumpet Blossom is ordinarily closed on Mondays, but the bar was definitely open and serving up delicious libations for a room full of familiar local faces for this special occasion. Whitmore played for over an hour to a full house of happy, (not so) slightly inebriated people hanging out in this great space. The full set of photos can be seen here.
I wouldn’t be shocked if the TB has some more good stuff up their sleeves for the future. Based on the musical history they’ve already built, I think it’ll be worthwhile to keep an eye on their calendar. In addition to Will Whitmore, they have already been host to Pete Balestrieri, Ben Schmidt, Dustin Busch, Ryan Brennaman and Brooks Strause (who will be playing weekly for Seitan Sundays).
If you haven’t been to the Trumpet Blossom, don’t be shy or scared off by the word “vegan”. Their local, organic food always hits the table in ways that are as delicious as they are beautiful. And to quench your thirst, they make everything but the alcohol itself. When it’s over 100 degrees out, a cold cocktail with some fresh fruit swimming in it is the perfect respite from the heat.

Your Pics are great, Adrianne!!
