The Center for Afrofuturist Studies welcomes artist-in-residence Tiona McClodden to Iowa City. Several events have been scheduled with the artist this week.

Events commence Tues., May 3, at 6 p.m. when Tiona will provide a talk and Q&A at Public Space One.

On Wednesday at 4:15 p.m. the artist will then lead a youth workshop in the Frank Conroy Reading Room of the University of Iowa’s Dey House. The workshop will focus on a piece that Ana Mendieta originally performed in Iowa City schools 40 years ago.

And on Fri., May 6 at 6 p.m. McClodden will unveil new work at the PS1 gallery space.

Tim Taranto is a writer and artist from New York. He is a graduate of Cornell University and the Iowa Writers' Workshop. He advocates taking ones bloated nothingness out of the path of the divine circuits.
