Let members of congress know how you feel about the Trump agenda

#ResistTrumpTuesdays Rally & Office Visit

111 7th Ave. SE, Cedar Rapids — Tuesday, March 28 at noon

Members of MoveOn.org, Working Families Party, Indivisible and others will rally outside Sens. Ernst and Grassley’s Cedar Rapids offices. Participants are encouraged to bring hand-written letters to Rep. Rod Blum and Senators Joni Ernst and Chuck Grassley. Representatives from the group will bring the letters to the members of congress’ offices and ask to meet with their staff. Suggested topics for letters include calling for an independant investigation of the Trump administration’s alleged ties to Russia and healthcare. Those who can’t make it to the event can email their letters to SwampCabinetCR@gmail.com.

100 Grannies for a Livable Future meeting

Trinity Episcopal Church (320 E College St, Iowa City) — Tuesday, March 28 at 5:30 p.m.

One Hundred Grannies for a Livable Future is an activist organization whose mission, according to the group’s website, is “to educate, advocate and agitate for renewable energy, pure water, clean air and a healthy environment for future generations.”

Center for Worker Justice meeting

Center for Worker Justice of Eastern Iowa/Centro de Justicia Laboral (940 S Gilbert Ct, Iowa City) — Saturday, April 1 at 1 p.m.

The Center for Worker Justice unites low-wage workers from all backgrounds, along with community allies, to fight for social and economic justice.

Engage with your state legislator at a public forum

Iowa City Education Forum

Board Room C, Education Services Center (1725 N. Dodge St.) — Friday, March 31 at 4 p.m.

Join state Sens. Bob Dvorsky, Joe Bolkcom and Kevin Kinney and state Reps. Amy Nielsen, Mary Mascher, Vicki Lensing and Dave Jacoby to discuss education legislation in Iowa.

Grab a beer and a pen and make your voice heard

Postcards and Pale Ale

Iowa City Brewlab (505 E Washington St) — Friday, March 31 at 5:30 p.m.

At previous events, activists packed Brewlab, writing over 1,000 postcards to elected officials. Johnson County Supervisor Kurt Friese hosts organizes these events the last Friday of the month.
