We are proud to present The Sullivan Gang on Little Village Live, broadcasting from KRUI Studios in Iowa City. Yesterday’s episode was a little lighter on the interview segments, but it wasn’t for lack of things to say so much as the abundance of music to be played!

The local group draws inspiration from rock and roll greats like Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash–among other pioneers of the genre–and performed last night at the Blue Moose Tap House. That didn’t stop them, however, from dropping by Little Village Live beforehand to play an excellent set of music.

Given that Iowa City is a college town and yesterday happened to be Cinco de Mayo, it only seemed appropriate that The Sullivan Gang satiated our desire to commemorate the, er, 1862 Mexican victory against French forces in the Battle of Puebla. What I mean to say is, check out this excellent performance of La Bamba while you polish off last night’s left over Tequila! Ay Dios Mio!

You can catch Little Village Live every Wednesday from 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., hosted by Matt Steele and Paul Sorenson, by tuning in to KRUI 89.7 FM. As always, you can listen in real time online if you don’t have a radio handy. Don’t forget to check back on Thursdays for plenty of in-studio video coverage with an mp3 of the full show soon to follow.

In light of the style and spirit of the Sullivan Gang, why not close out with a little faux-vintage compilation of a few additional song’s from yesterday’s set? Why, it’s as if we’ve stepped into some sort of time warp! Oh, the magic of indulgent post-production. Once again, compliments to The Sullivan Gang for putting on a great performance. Tune in next week for another excellent edition of Little Village Live!
