Brooklyn rapper Louis Logic will be making a stop at the Mill tonight as part of the “Geordi la Forgery” tour, which is both a clever Star Trek reference and a fun line-up of indie hip-hop artists. The brainchild of the Geordi tour is 21-year-old Milo aka Rory Ferreira, a self-proclaimed art rapper who is vegetarian, tosses out pro wrestling references and reads Jacques Derrida in his spare time. Ion, of Iowa City’s AWTHNTKTS, will also be opening.

Louis Logic, 38, has been performing for 21 years, a career old enough to drink he mused. Over the years, his “renegade indie hip-hop anti-hero” style evolved into theatrical performances as he rapped, sang, danced, played the piano and performed stand-up comedy. He’s flirted with indie rock, battled homophobia and performed in drag, definitely flying without a net in the hip-hop world.

Louis Logic has collaborated with Jedi Mind Tricks, MF Doom and Malik B of the Roots and has had over 20 releases, official and unofficial, during his career. His last record Me and Everyone You Know came out in 2006, and after a seven year hiatus, he will release Look on the Blight Side in October on Fake Four Inc. Records.

Here is his excellent “Night of the Hip N Dead” video, under his Spork Kills moniker and his first exposure on MTV:
