Iowa City’s The Gilded Bats came by Little Village Live this week for some of that old time string music. The group, together since 2003, have a certain authenticity when it comes to practicing their craft, evident in their ability to write alarmingly catchy folk tunes. The purity of this group’s music–to which the wash tub bass is no detriment–is a nice contrast from some of the more synth and distortion-heavy performances we’ve recently hosted, so be sure to check out the clips below to see them in action.
If you like what you hear, more clips of The Gilded Bats, as well as many other performances, can be found in our Youtube channel.
Tune in to Little Village Live with hosts Matt Steele and Paul Sorenson every Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. on KRUI 89.7 FM. No radio handy? Stream the show live from your personal computer. With Thankful Dirt coming in to play a meaty set in the coming episode, you won’t want to miss it.
