A southwest Iowa county sheriff’s department has agreed to settle a lawsuit brought by a man who was arrested in July 2018, because he called a deputy a “fucking pile of shit” and a “STUPID sum bitch” on Facebook.

Iowa man arrested for rude Facebook post files federal lawsuit
On Tuesday, the ACLU of Iowa filed a federal lawsuit against Adams County in southwest Iowa, claiming its sheriff’s office violated the free speech rights of Jon Goldsmith. Goldsmith was arrested for calling a deputy sheriff a “fucking pile of shit” and “STUPID sum bitch” in a July 2018 Facebook post.
