Since May, Gov. Kim Reynolds has prevented Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller from submitting friend-of-the-court briefs in 10 federal lawsuits brought by other states against the Trump administration. The cases involve environmental regulations, gun control, reproductive rights, LGBTQ rights and the treatment of asylum seekers.

‘Peak pig’ in Iowa leads to a ‘staggering’ amount of shit in the state
It’s probably not an accomplishment state officials will want to boast about, but Iowa out-performs the rest of the country when it comes to producing shit. That is, literal fecal waste. Chris Jones, a research engineer and an adjunct associate professor at the University of Iowa, IIHR, has done the math: Iowa, with a population of 3.2 million, produces more than twice the amount of fecal waste per square mile than California, which has almost 40 million people.

Climate action grants now available for Iowa City community organizations
Iowa City community organizations can now apply for a climate action grant worth up to $5,000. The city council has allocated $25,000 for the grants, which will support local climate and sustainability actions performed by two or more community-based organizations working in partnership.
