A slide show tonight at Prairie Lights will feature the work of a globe-circling photojournalist, Ted Polumbaum, pulled from the huge collection of his photos held at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. His daughter, Judy Polumbaum, has collected some of her father’s photos in a new book, Juxtapositions: Images from the Newseum Ted Polumbaum Photo Collection.

Ted was a stringer around the world for major publications covering political events, and historical figures for decades. He also took pictures in the streets of the human condition in all its varieties. The Newseum holds over 200,000 of his photos. Ted passed away in 2001.

Judy is a University of Iowa professor emeritus of journalism and mass communication and lives in Iowa City, Iowa.
