Show Photos: Santafest at the Wherehouse, 18 Bands, One Night – 12/18

I spent somewhere between 9 and 10 hours at the Wherehouse yesterday for their holiday art and music extravaganza. I showed up for the potluck at 5pm and finally called it a night after the last band played which was sometime after 2am, but I don’t remember exactly what time it was…
There was something for everyone at this event which showcased some of Iowa City’s finest and most intense acts. I’ll give you the full rundown of what auditory delights were on the holiday musical menu last night:

also there was some very stunning, eye-entrancing art from

It was an intense, marathon event but it was worth the achey feet and ringing ears to hear all these performers and to see all this art in one place. I don’t want to jinx anything, but could this be the perfect place in town for musicians and artists? It was just so wonderful to be in this totally un”policed” space where nobody is causing any trouble, everyone is listening to something they either love of have never heard before, sharing food, conversation (tho sometimes you gotta scream to be heard) and everything otherwise going very smoothly. It was the most fun I’ve had in a long-ass time.
